Mission
The mission of The Somist Institute is to foster sensible moral leadership.
Recomendations are based on a sensible new paradigm, Concordian economics.
In brief, the mission of The Somist Institute is to encourage the nation to gradually implement the following four economic rights and responsibilities:
the right of access to land and natural resources in correspondence with the responsibility to pay taxes on such land and natural resources
the right of access to national credit in correspondence with the responsibility to repay the loans received on the basis of national credit
the right to the fruits of one's labor in correspondence with the responsibility to perform tasks commensurate with the compensation received
the right to the full enjoyment of one's property in correspondence with the responsibility to respect the wealth of others.
These principles form a coherent Bill of Economic Rights and Responsibilities. These are principles to be inscribed in the hearts and minds of every human being. They form the substance of economic justice and the foundation of peace.
The mission of The Somist Institute is also to try to establish Mutual Assurance Funds among close circles of friends and Economic Interdependence Funds in each one of our communities.
The Somist Institute is also attempting to have the City of Gloucester pass a Local Concord Resolution, to use the Functional Integration of Management Tasks (the FIMT model) to organize our economic base, and to gradually shift municipal taxes from buildings onto land.
